Congratulations! Now what?

September 20th,2019

Congratulations!  There is nothing more exciting than accepting a job overseas.  Whether this is your first leap moving abroad or your tenth, you have a whole host of adventures in your near future.   Up until now you’ve probably spent all your time thinking about what will happen when you get to China, but what about what happens between now and the day you step off the plane?  Here’s a quick overview of what we do here at ENREACH to get our teachers off on the right foot.

Visa document collection: We’ll send detailed instruction on how to complete each of these steps, but here is what we need to apply for a notification letter that you need to get the visa:

  • FBI check – authenticated
  • Third party background check (we’ll send instructions)
  • Degree scan
  • Passport scan, passport photo scan
  • CV -formatted exactly as we send it.
  • Medical form filled out and stamped
  • Reference letter
  • Work Permit Application

Given how long the authentication process takes, it’s best to get started on this right away.  We pay for this too, so make sure you keep all your receipts!  After everything has been submitted it will take at least 4 weeks to process.

Visa application – Once you get your notification letter, you have to go to the consulate to get your visa.  You can’t mail it to the consulate so if you are unable to go in person, you’ll have to use an agent.  There are a lot of great agents, but here is one we have had success with:  https://www.mychinavisa.com  This process can take anywhere from a few days to a few weeks depending on your circumstances.

Flight – once you have your visa in hand, you’ll take a photo of it and send it to your recruiter and confirm your departure city.  We’ll then book your ticket, which is most often the day before your arrival date. You do have the option to purchase your own flight, but if you do this you have to arrive on the arrival date set for you, and can be reimbursed up to 9000 RMB.

Arrival – it’ll be here before you know it!  A week before you arrive our team in China will send you information about what to expect in the first week.

Still have questions?  Never forget that your recruiter is there for any questions you have, and can talk through any roadblocks you encounter so don’t hesitate to pick up the phone or send an email.  We want you to have a great time in China!
